Michael practises in the areas of corporate/commercial and intellectual property law. Among his clients, Michael acts as counsel to the Canadian Standards Association (CSA).
His commercial practice involves advising clients on mergers and acquisitions, product recall actions, trade sanctions, and negotiating contractual relationships for his clients.
Michael’s intellectual property practice includes registering trade-marks as well as anti-counterfeiting enforcement and trade-mark infringement litigation.
Michael also acts as a litigation manager for Canadian companies involved in litigation in other jurisdictions.
Michael received his law degree from Queen’s University in 1998 and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2001. He obtained Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and Master of Arts (English) degrees from the University of Saskatchewan in 1992 and 1995, respectively. Prior to joining Macdonald Sager Manis, Michael worked for an arm of the World Trade Organization in Geneva, Switzerland, assisting in the development of a conference on multilateral trading systems for developing nations. He also completed a NAFTA scholarship at the Canadian Embassy in Washington D.C.
