Connie Freitas is a partner of the firm and was called to the Bar in 1994. She obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree from Osgoode Hall Law School, and her Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations and French Language & Literature from the University of Toronto.

Connie's business practice is varied and encompasses the areas of corporate/commercial, real estate, and trusts and estates law.

Her corporate practice includes the creation, dissolution, amalgamation, and re-organization of corporations, as well as the representation of foreign corporations doing business in Canada. Her commercial practice includes acting for major banks and credit unions on the financing of businesses; acting on the purchase and sale of businesses; and drafting and advising on a wide range of commercial contracts.

The real estate portion of Connie’s practice includes acting for builders and developers with respect to land development agreements; drafting the agreements of purchase and sale used by builders for the sale of new homes; acting for non-residents in dealing with land in Ontario; as well as acting on the purchase, sale and financing of commercial and residential properties.

Connie's trusts and estates practice complements her business law practice and has a special emphasis on business succession planning.

For several years, Connie was an instructor of both the Business Law and the Real Estate Sections of the Law Society’s Bar Admissions Course. Most recently, she was involved in setting the new licensing exams for Ontario lawyers. Connie is fluent in Portuguese; has worked on radio and television; and is very active as a volunteer in serving the broader community, both by providing pro bono legal services and by acting as a director on various boards of non-profit and charitable organizations.
